Can I buy you a drink?

girl-drinkWhile not a terrible idea, buying drinks for girls isn’t the most inventive or memorable way to introduce yourself to a girl.

Here’s the part that threw me off my game.  The past few weeks while I’ve been out, I’ve had two girls walk up to me and say “Want to buy me a drink?”.  Personally, the first thought that goes through my head is “Are you serious?  Get lost lady.”  Do guys actually fall for this?  No matter how attractive or unattractive the girl is in this situation, I find it to be completely obnoxious and she’s thrown all credibility out of the window faster than a starving fat kid devouring chocolate cake.

If I were going to buy a girl a drink, it would be after we’d been talking for awhile and there is obvious chemistry or solid conversation.

Ladies, do you actually see any success with this?  Or are these ladies just crazy?

I don’t know if I would call it crazy, more like to each their own. I personally don’t use this tactic, although I have seen it in action and it can work for a free drink, which may be all the lady is out for…I am not sure that all women who use this tactic actually want to chat with the guy, it may be a drink and dash scenario.

I would personally never ask a guy to buy me a drink, and I hate it when guys offer to buy me drinks. First, asking a guy to buy you a drink is obnoxious and rude. I would be appalled if some guy came up to me and asked me to buy him a drink – wtf?! Second, when guys offer to buy me drinks I think one of two things: 1) oh god, now I have to at least talk to him (and what if I don’t want to – I guess this is a good think if the guy is cute and you want to chat) or 2) he just wants to get in my pants. I think there are FAR better ways to hit on a girl. Buy her a drink if you want to be polite AFTER you’ve chatted with her a bit and her drink is done. Or, as a female, I would offer to do the same thing for a guy (but I know other girls wouldn’t agree with me here).

I find it tacky to expect/ask a man to buy you a drink.

However, if you DO want to buy the girl a drink, this is one tactic I love:
    – Make eye contact with a girl from across the room and smile. Don’t approach her, don’t stare at her, don’t psuedo-stalk her movements through a room
    – 15-20 mins later, send a drink over to her. She’ll look around and then when she catches your eyes – cheers her with your own drink from across the room. Don’t approach her, don’t stare, don’t psuedo-stalk her.

I don’t know any woman who wouldn’t come over, introduce herself and just to say thank you. I think its a very friendly, non-scary way to just casually let someone know you’re interested.

Besides, a man with that much game and intrigue- must be a hot commodity! But that’s just my 2c.
